“The Progression of Nebraska’s GLO Surveys”

Jerry Penry is a Nebraska licensed land surveyor
who began his surveying career in 1984. A native of Atkinson, Jerry
attended Southeast Community College in Milford after high school and has
remained in southeast Nebraska. After employment with various
private surveying companies in Lincoln for 12 years, Jerry has worked for
Lancaster County Engineering since 1997 and currently manages the survey
department. He has had over twenty articles published in professional
magazines and has authored several books. Jerry currently lives in
Milford.

Deputy State SurveyorGene Thomsen is a life-long resident of Nebraska who grew up on a farm between Fairmont and Exeter Nebraska. He attended Kearney State College, and graduated from Southeast Community College with an associates degree in Civil Engineering and Surveying. Gene worked in private practice before joining the Nebraska Department of Roads Design Division in 1974. He has been a Registered Land Surveyor in Nebraska since 1983 and became a Deputy State Surveyor in 1988. His interest is survey history has inspired him to write articles for the Professional Surveyors Association of Nebraska as well as “Nebraska History” published by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
