Paul Tyrell, PE, PLS -
Associate Vice President, HDR (Board of Registration Chair)

Paul Tyrell, PE, PLS, is an accomplished professional engineer licensed in MA, ME, NH, RI, VT, CT, and NY and a professional land surveyor in MA. Additionally, he is a LEED and Design-Build Institute of America accredited professional with 30 years of experience in land surveying, civil engineering, and construction management. Paul is an Associate Vice President with HDR Incorporated. At this ENR-leading E/A fi rm, he leads Alternate Delivery throughout New England. He has led design teams for some of Massachusetts’s largest design-build projects, including the $1.32 billion MBTA Green Line LRT Extension and the $400 million MassDOT Longfellow Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Paul currently chairs the Massachusetts Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, which oversees the Commonwealth’s more than 15,000 professional engineers and land surveyors. He is the Treasurer of NCEES, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Before his appointment to the Massachusetts Board, Paul was an active member of the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers, where he served as Secretary and a trustee of The Engineering Center Engineering Trust, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts, and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, which awarded him the “Ralph Horne Service” award in 2017.

Paul is happily married to Christine, his wife of over twenty years, and is the proud father to Lauren and Sean. Sean is following in his father’s footsteps. He is currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering program at the University of Maine.

Daniel G. MacIsaac, PLS - 
Survey Department Manager Massachusetts Port Authority

Dan has been licensed to practice land surveying in Massachusetts for over 20 years and surveying for 30. He has led residential and commercial development projects, large-scale pipeline and transit projects, and for the past 7 years, has led the survey department for Massport. Massport operates 3 airports, the seaport of Boston, and various land holdings in eastern Massachusetts. Dan began to work with laser scanning technology with one of the earliest scanners from Cyra Technologies and continues to manage 3D scanning projects.

Some of Dan’s notable projects include the boundary survey of the 700-Acre Hanscom Airforce Base, the existing conditions survey of 56 miles of RR corridor for the South Coast Rail Project, the Management of a multi-million dollar track monitoring program at Boston’s South Station, several Air Rights development projects over the Massachusetts Turnpike, countless boundary surveys of residential lots, and commercial properties and government-owned lots throughout Massachusetts. Lately, he has been creating a digital cadastre of all the lands and rights owned by Massport.

Dan and his wife, Danielle, have 3 young boys to keep them busy. They are aged from 7 to almost 14 years old. Dan has hobbies in woodworking and researching interstate boundary disputes.
