Charlie Tucker, LS
Project Manager Farnsworth Group, Inc.
Mr. Tucker is a highly skilled railroad surveyor and project manager, possessing 37 years of experience in and around the railroad industry. He is considered an expert on railroad surveying and records – expertise he honed during his 15 years working for Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. He is well-versed in the needs of small, large, and industrial-scale railroads. While working for ATSF, Charlie held a variety of positions that provided him with an intimate working knowledge of the industry. He served as engineer aide, survey technician, field engineer, office engineer, assistant roadmaster, roadmaster, and tunnel construction roadmaster. Charlie is exceptionally skilled in the surveying, design, layout, and construction of infrastructure and public works around operating railroads. Since leaving the railroad in 1996, he has been with FARNSWORTH GROUP, Inc. as a railroad project manager in many diverse projects across the country, including functioning as an acting Chief Engineer for multiple shortline railroad start-ups.
He recently served as the sub-committee chairman for the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association’s (AREMA) Pipeline and Utility Crossing Committee I (“Roadway”/ SC-5), which writes and updates the railway industry’s suggested standards. Also, Charlie serves on AREMA Committee 18, “Shortline & Light Density Railroads,” where he is currently the committee secretary. He teaches classes nationwide to professional engineers and surveyors on railroad design fundamentals and has served as an expert witness in numerous railroad-related lawsuits.
